How office affects the voter
The Clerk of the District Court & Jury Commissioner is responsible for the administration, management, and operation of all clerical functions of the District Court within the county; the maintenance of legal records; and the entire jury management process, ensuring the constitutional right to a trial by jury is upheld. Duties and Responsibilities
District Court Clerk Responsibilities 1. Case Management: - ensure that all cases proceed appropriately through the system, from initial acceptance; recording and gathering records for all stages of the process; and issuing legal documents such as summons and warrants, among others. 2. Act as the clerk for the Board of Mental Health. 3. Record Custodianship keeps all court records, both physical and electronic, and provides appropriate public access to them. 4. Financial responsibilities manage court costs, fines, restitution, and other funds (including court trust accounts)collecting, recording, depositing, and reporting. 5. Customer Service and Public Interaction: Provide information and assistance to judges, attorneys, law enforcement, litigants, and the general public without providing legal advice. 6. Office Administration: Train, supervise, and evaluate deputy clerks and other office staff, including determining efficient, effective office procedures. B. Jury Commissioner Responsibilities: Jury Commission manages the list of potential jurors and processes juror qualification and/or exemptions in order to provide adequate numbers of jurors for selection, communicating with and reimbursing jurors, as well as submitting reports to the State Court Administrator.

Registered voter. Residency in the county is not required when applying to run but is required if the position is won.
Other information
This role demands the highest standards of integrity, confidentiality, and efficiency. Though not required, a high school diploma or equivalent, an associate's or bachelor's degree in business, criminal justice, public administration, or a related field is preferred. Another advantage would be considerable experience in court operations, legal administration, or a similarly complex office environment, including supervisory experience. Having extensive knowledge of Nebraska legalities, organizational, technological and communication skills are preferred.
Term of office
Term of office is 4 years, with no term limits.

Candidates are nominated by their party in a primary election.
When election is held
Every four years along with state officers.
