The Village Board decides how property tax is spent in the Village.
The size of a village may adjust what positions are needed, but law authorizes the Village Board to appoint a village clerk, treasurer, attorney, engineer, overseer of the streets, and chief of police and other such officers as necessary, They also appoint a 3-member Board of Health, which includes the village board chairperson and 2 others, one of whom should be a health-care provider. Except for police, all have one-year terms.
