Cass County Weed Control Board (Vote up to 2) G24
Job Description
How office affects the voter
Because noxious weeds compete with pasture and crops, they can reduce yields substantially. Some are poisonous or injurious to man, livestock, and wildlife. The losses resulting from noxious weed infestations can be staggering, costing residents millions of dollars due to lost production – thereby eroding the tax base. The Weed Board working well can prevent those difficulties.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Administer Nebraska Noxious Weed Control Law at the local level, establishing control programs • Issue individual noxious weed notices, notifying County Attorney if landowners fail to take action • File notices with the Register of Deeds of possible unpaid weed control assessments against a property
