Our Explanation

This ballot question was added to the ballot after the Good Government Lincoln group managed to acquire enough signatures.  Essentially #3 gets the process of having Lincoln elections happen with statewide elections in even-numbered years but starting in 2030.  In this scenario, the mayor and city council district offices would be elected in 2027, staying in office until 2030.  The at-large city council members would be elected in 2029, holding office until 2032.  The term length different from 4 years from this change over would be counted as 4-years for purposes of term limits.

Voting FOR this provision would establish city elections to be along with regular elections in even-numbered years, starting in 2030.

Voting AGAINST this provision would leave things as they are voting in odd-numbered years – unless #2 passes.
