Instead, Uribe Refuse Services Inc proposes to enter into a five-year contract with the City of Bennet to provide weekly residential curbside garbage services for the cost of $22.00 per month, plus a $1.00 increase to the monthly rate in each year of the contract; and the City would continue to provide a disposal site for brush and yard waste.

Our Explanation

The City of Bennet is responsible for providing garbage services to its private residents. It currently provides a refuse site, to which residents bring their household garbage. Residents pay $23 monthly for this service. Residents may choose other options for trash disposal, and must report to the city if they do so. Rules for the refuse site, including who can use it and what can and cannot be disposed of, can be found here. It is open Tuesday and Thursday from 12 pm to 7 pm, and Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm.
 
This proposal would change the way the city meets its garbage service responsibility. It would allow the City of Bennet to contract with Uribe Refuse Services so that residents could have household trash picked up each week. The contract would last for 5 years; the first year, residents would pay $22 per month, one dollar less than now; however, the price will rise by $1 each year of the contract. The current city dump would continue to be used for brush and yard waste.
 
A vote FOR this proposal favors giving Bennet residents weekly curbside garbage pickup, with an initial price decrease. Over five years, the cost will increase to $26 per month.
 
A vote AGAINST this proposal favors continuing the current arrangement, in which residents bring their trash to the refuse site for $23 per month.
